This was it! After months of refurbishment and eager anticipation, this weekend, Nightingales was set to relaunch. And relaunch they sure did...
People had flocked in their droves and, from early until late, were queuing round the corner. Inside, the place was heaving. Clean, fresh, imaginative and innovative, the décor and layout had obviously had a lot of though, time and money put into them.
On the ground floor, a large stage area was brimming with Brummies, whilst the massive dancefloor in front of it bopped along to the party tunes under some fantastic lights and effects.
Out the back, a stoned yard was a nice touch - as was the large balcony on the first floor... each presumably provided for those who'll still be smoking after 1 July.
Also on the first floor, a cabaret stage with a live pianist playing some real traditional sing-a-long tunes throughout the night made way for a bit more of a chillout area - though still very busy. A couple of pool tables, an eatery and a third floor with more of a serious dance feel to it, completed the offerings.
The night supported by not one, but two live PAs, I'm sure it was no accident that an act with a name sounding a little like the club itself was on the bill. Both Michelle Gayle and Crystal Waters gave superb, energetic performances to a crowd eager to be entertained in a beautifully refurbished space.
