business news![]() Pride Reunion Postponed!Friday, 11 November 2005 We've just received the following press release from Pride Reunion: PRIDE REUNION POSTPONED Plans for a Pride Reunion weekend received a huge amount of positive and enthusiastic response. Unfortunately, the organisers have postponed the event due to take place in Somerset this month. Despite healthy ticket sales throughout the summer, bookings slowed considerably in the lead up to the event, proving insufficient to cover the cost of the huge production budget. The event's proximity to Christmas and distant location has been cited as determining reasons for the fallout in anticipated guest bookings. The organisers feel that this huge event will benefit from a revised date to ensure that Pride Reunion remains the exciting and unique event that was originally conceived. The event will be rescheduled in 2006. Event promoter David Hill has offered the following statement: "We would like to thank everyone who has booked tickets and supported our event. We would also like to offer reassurance of a full refund to those who have booked, together with the offer of a large discount on tickets to the rescheduled party" your commentspage 1 | page 2 said by Samwell Must admit that I thought it was a bit of a distance, although to their credit they'd organised busses from most major cities across the UK to make it really easy for us. And the line-up was absolutely bloody fantastic! Really hope they manage to pull it together next year sometime. said by Timbo A weekend off? Then may I suggest you use it to catch up on sleep! x said by Bitchney_Sue What will Grace Jones do now? It's the only thing she had planned this year.... *rolls eyes* said by mcrgeorge Yet another major cock up made by the organisers of a large gay event. Again someone failed to research the available market properly leaving a lot of people dissapointed. said by Alex1 Great shame minehead is a bit far out why not have it in a large city like London or Brighton? book everyone into hotels, book Creation club for two nights and lots of other goodies and acts. I'm sure the promoter would be over run with bookings. said by Fletch I think in theory it is a great idea - but in practical terms - it's just as cheap to go abroad. It's funny - it's cheaper to go to spain for two weeks all inclusive than it is to stay in brighton for two nights B&B at the weekend - even at this time of year! said by MrTinker WHATS WRONG WITH MINEHEAD? said by Rob i agree tinker, it was a brilliant idea! but i think that it would have been a better idea to hold it at the bognor one too.. i mean i have no idea where minehead it.. and im sure its not that well known for its gay night life! but prehaps it would have been a nice change holding it in a town/city that we dont know much about.. chance of scenery, people, etc. said by hollie Its such a shame that our first chance of a "Gay Weekender" has been postponed!!! page 1 | page 2 |

i diddnt really think it was a good idea holding it so close to christmas, and the fact that it's in Minehead isn't really a big turn on. Maybe later on in the new year and a better venue would have a more positive turn out!
